The excitement continues

The butterfly survived the night. Emma brought her ("her" because she's a Painted Lady butterfly) into the house early Sunday afternoon. We needed to give her more sugar water. Emma prepared the sugar water and fed her. We left her on the kitchen table because it was a hot day, and we did not want her to get too hot in the plastic container in the garage. She was flapping her wings A LOT. It was time for her to be set free. Emma understood the truth in this, but she did not want to let her go. Later in the afternoon, Emma declared that it was time. We placed the plastic container by flowers that attract butterflies and bees, but the butterfly had ideas of her own.
The butterfly flew to the driveway:

And then that beastly ice cream truck music could be heard. Emma and her friend forgot all about the butterfly, started jumping up and down, and asked for money to go buy ice cream. The ice cream man has magical powers. He draws children as if he has a vacuum on them. Kids forget everything that is going on in order to get ice cream from that truck. Yeah, I gave in and gave them money. They bolted up the adjacent street, to the next neighborhood to stand and wait. When they got their goodies they came back to the house, giddy with excitement, forgetting all about the butterfly. About 30 minutes later, they remembered the butterfly, and she had already flown away to begin a life of her own.
