Eric Clapton / Steve Winwood

Todd and I went to Columbus, OH to an Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood concert at the Schottenstein Center on Ohio State University's campus. We sat in the very back of the Center but the large screens allowed us to see the performers. It was a great show. This was the third time Todd has seen Eric Clapton, and he says this is the best show yet.

We went with our friends Bill and Val. We have been friends for 11 years now. Christopher and their son Tyler were in Cub Scouts together beginning in 1st grade. The boys will both be seniors this year. A good time is always in store when we are with them. It doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing, the laughs are always plentiful.

When we got to the Doubletree Hotel in Columbus, our rooms were not ready yet. We started walking downtown Columbus in search of a restaurant/bar to sit and have a drink. There were lots of coffee houses, but Billy wanted a beer so we ended up at the Ho Toy. The Ho Toy is a Chinese restaurant and we were the only people in the place. Imagine two grown men making fun of the name of the restaurant and then starting to talk with Chinese dialects. The quote of the day ended up being, "Your Fa-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra not funny. Here your check. You pay and go now!" The waitress did not say this. Todd and Bill were saying this. The Fa-Ra-Ra-Ra-Ra line is from the Christmas Vacation movie.

Billy was tour guide for this trip. He found a pub within walking distance to the Schottenstein Center. We went to The Varsity Club for dinner. We also went to The Varsity Club after the show. Two very nice guys who travelled from Buffalo, NY to see the show became our friends. They bought me my first, and what will be my last, shot of Yagermeister.

On the way home, tour guide Bill stopped at Shamrock Winery in Waldo, OH. It was a very cool, very small vineyard
